And I'm not your ordinary copywriter.
My emails make you think. Maybe you'll laugh. Maybe you'll cry. Maybe you'll change your mind. I don't know, but I know you'll feel something.
I have ADHD, and I'm not sure who has the shortest attention span out of me and my one year old dog.
I'm also a black belt procrastinator, ready to put everything even remotely meaningful on hold just to meticulously go through every item in that storage room I haven’t touched in years.
And I’m great at channeling my hyperfocus to insignificant details on projects that will never see the light of day anyway.
All perfect traits for a freelancer…
Well, maybe not. But this also means that my mind is always buzzing with new ideas and making unexpected connections. I’m great with words, and I have the ability to come up with fresh angles that’s actually exciting to read.
And that’s the thing, it should be exciting. Life is too short to write boring copy, and it’s certainly too short to read it. So instead of just listing a bunch of features and telling the reader to “click here and give me money”, I write copy that’s relatable and build a lasting connection.
It’s all in the details. The subject line decides if an email gets opened or goes straight to trash. A seemingly insignificant word can pickle the trigger that takes the email from “meh” to “me!”. This is where people skills and understanding the reader comes into play.
And I have a great way with people. Maybe because of the never-ending flow of new characters my overactive imagination constantly creates. Or because I actually have the ability to listen to what a person is saying.
Or maybe it is that I never stop learning. And I love learning. Learning doesn’t only make me into an infinite source of peculiar fun facts (just ask), it widens my horizon and makes me connect with people. Or something like that…
I don’t know. The main thing is that I have fun. And when writing is fun, the copy gets fun. And fun copy converts.
